ME AND MY ROOM 我和我的房间

Desktop-Based
Live Performance

In the live performances, I invited viewers into my digital realm by organizing my 'room' in the first part and doing a 'room tour' in the second part.

THROUGH LIVE PERFORMANCES,
I AM TRYING TO HIGHLIGHT THE INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MY IDENTITY AND DIGITAL EXPRESSION IN THE CYBER AGE.

Playing with spatial tricks of three-dimensional perspective and two-dimensional flat surfaces, I arranged folders, icons, images, and application icons, transforming the screen to represent my personalized room online.

As I clicked, dragged, opened, and closed items, I shared anecdotes and insights, offering a glimpse into my lifestyle, the significance of digital spaces in my life, and how digital spaces reflect and represent my digital consumption and physical life.

Part 1
changed the icons of the folders to object graphics. They could overlap with each other to create an interior perspective without the folder name tag.

Part 2
brought in many patterns to create a collage of backgrounds for the black and white icons, representing light, shadows, ambient color, and interior finishes.

Part 3
, thought it could be challenging yet fun to make the folders functional, so I found a bunch of GIFs online to represent the little cute things I collect in real life, which my mom would call useless tho. ;(

Part 4
, did a room tour based on the rooms I organized and expanded the room to my whole desktop. I walked the audience through several desktops designed to mimic different room environments in my home, introducing them in a tone similar to YouTube room tour videos.
